1. What is the GemProtect™ back-up service?
A: With duly saved™'s GemProtect™ is a yearly subscription service, providing our clients with an off-site back-up service for their most important data files. It’s on-line, it’s secure, it’s available 24-7. And it’s an extra, indispensable service for creative people who simply can’t afford to lose their work. To learn more about the benefits you get with GemProtect™, click here. To find out how much a subscription costs, check out GemProtect™’s rates.
2. Why should I make use of your GemProtect™ back-up service?
A: Unfortunately bad things happen to good people. Computer hard drives die or are wiped by viruses. Fires destroy property, and thieves are indiscriminate both in their targets and what they steal. So even if you are backing-up your work, if you’re keeping it all in one place, there’s still a chance you’ll lose everything. And your insurance can’t replace your lifetime’s portfolio of work can it? That’s why duly saved™'s GemProtect™ is there to provide you that extra level of protection you need. And we’re not just talking your completed work here. Story notes, rough sketches, diagrams, treatments, novels, invention ideas, latest drafts, works in progress as well as completed projects all can be backed-up with duly noted® at your own personal Your NOTED! member’s page. But we believe you shouldn’t consider your back-up service as solely for disaster recovery. Imagine this scenario; you’re away from home on business, it’s a couple of hours before the big meeting you’ve set up to pitch your latest work. You suddenly realise in all the bustle of packing you forgot to bring the latest version with you! Fortunately, all is not lost, because you used GemProtect™ just the day before to back-up your file. You log-on, and within minutes you’ve accessed your member’s page and downloaded the file ready for presenting. Your pitch is saved! Makes sense, doesnt it?
3. How do I back up my work with you?
A: It’s easy! Once you are a member of our GemProtect™ back-up service, all you need do is enter your personal Your NOTED! members page, and from the menu select “Back-Up File Management”. Once the screen refreshes, simply click on the “Back-Up Another File” link, select which work to upload from your computer, and submit. It couldn’t be simpler. So do you want the added protection of our back-up service? You can join GemProtect™ by clicking any of the links to the left or simply click “Upgrade Subscription” on your personal Your NOTED! members page. Please note our terms and conditions relating to this service.
4. So if I sign up to the GemProtect™ back-up service, I can stop backing-up my files the usual way, right?
A: No, that’s not our recommendation. We don’t believe our service should be the only method our clients use to back-up their files, nor should it replace our clients’ customary back-up measures. GemProtect™ should be considered an addition to them. So we urge all our clients to continue with their existing back-up procedures.
5. Why back-up with you? I can just as easily give copies of my work to a friend or my lawyer.
A: Those are other options, sure. You can even buy a memory stick too. But: · Your friends and your lawyer aren’t in the business of data storage, and they’re not set up for it · Safe protection of your work is low on their list of priorities · Memory sticks can also be lost, stolen, infected or corrupted. And even if your friends or your lawyer do help, let’s face facts here: · Do they automatically provide a duplicate of a registered document for you to access any time – and for free? · Can you call on them at 4am in the morning to give them the new version you’ve just finished of your latest masterpiece? · Will they keep what you give them in a secure location, with built-in levels of redundancy, and in conditions allowing your work to be best preserved? · Can your friends guarantee their two year-old won’t find your shiny data disc and make it their next favourite toy? You need protection and service that works to your priorities and your schedule. That’s why you need GemProtect™.
6. What if I don’t renew my GemProtect™ subscription?
A: Upon the expiration of your registration or subscription term, duly noted® will dispose of all information and data relating to your work. This will include destruction and deletion of your files and records. However, subscribers do have a grace period of one (1) month after expiry to retrieve any backed-up files, after which all such data will be disposed of.
7. Can I upgrade my GemProtect™ membership?
A: Of course! Simply go to your personal Your NOTED! member’s page and click on the “Upgrade Membership” icon. Select the next level you want above your current subscription, follow the payment directions, and you’re done. And the best part is the upgrade charge will be at a cheaper, pro-rata rate. The GemProtect™ section of the Our Rates Page has examples. ( NOTE: Upgraded membership will be for the remainder of the subscription period of the original membership level, and renewed at the expiry of that original term.)
8. Can I cancel my GemProtect™ subscription?
A: Yes, you can cancel at any time in the form of notarised letter or by email from your address logged in the company records. In the case where more than one person is the creator of a work, cancellation must come from all parties involved in the form of notarised letter(s). Upon receipt of a cancellation notice, duly noted® will dispose of all information and data relating to your work(s). This will include destruction and deletion of your files and records.
9. Are there any restrictions on the size of data file I send?
A: The document file size limit per back-up is a helpful 100 Megabytes. PLEASE NOTE: When it comes to backing-up your data files; be aware the size of the data file you upload could also be limited by the amount of GemProtect™ storage space left allocated to you. So make sure you check how much is left before uploading.
10. Do you look at your clients’ work?
A: No, we don’t. In fact, we can’t. This is part of our internal security protocols; in order to protect your data, as well as to avoid inadvertent copyright violation. We want you to have the confidence your work remains unmolested in any way.
11. Is the Internet secure enough to upload my work?
A: Yes. We have endeavoured to ensure the security of the duly noted® and its duly savedTM site and GemProtect™ service so you can have confidence your files are stored as securely as you would hope them to be.
12. Is the Internet secure enough to pay by credit/debit card?
A: At duly noted®, we want you to be confident you’re just as safe paying for our services as you’ll be using them. So we use WorldPay; a well established and competitive online payment and merchant banking service, to handle our transactions. Payments from our clients go through their secured servers, using their security measures, so that your transaction info remains safe.
13. Do you remind your clients when their GemProtect™ subscription is about to expire?
A: Yes. We have a number of ways to help our clients administer their subscription: · Subscription expiry dates as well as how many days they have left of their subscription are shown on each client’s Your NOTED! member’s page, above the work they’ve backed-up. · Email reminders are sent to our clients before expiry of their subscriptions.
14. What happens if you cease trading?
A: Your registration data and backed-up files will remain safe should the unlikely event occur that duly noted® shuts its doors. The company has undertaken to provide contingency measures whereby appointed agents can ensure continuation of its services until completion of our clients’ registration or subscription terms.
